Small, thoughtful acts can easily make someone’s day go from bad to amazing in a matter of minutes. Maybe even seconds! These same little things can also make girls feel like a million dollars. Like they’ve hit the jackpot with their new date. They’re being treated well; they’re telling all their friends about you, they feel special and even loved.

You can do just this, student style! What does this mean? It means doing things by free or inexpensive means, and making the most of the resources that surround you.

Let me explain where I’m coming from… This morning I woke up to a Facebook message from a friend, with a file attached to it. I downloaded it, and to my surprise she’d made a short PowerPoint presentation for me. A little ‘thank you for being a great friend’ reminder. She’d written short passages on how she felt, and inserted pictures of us throughout. It made me smile from ear to ear. It also got me thinking…

Letter

She didn’t need to go out and spend money on a card. In fact, she didn’t need to any spend money on anything. And yet it meant so much to me: it absolutely made my day.

So then I thought, what a great idea for the next Dating for Students blog post! So here we are, discussing the ways you can make your special someone feel wonderful, student style!

Firstly, there’s the PowerPoint slide already mentioned. Gather together a few photos of you two, such as ones where you’re laughing, having fun, maybe showing the first time you met. On each slide,

What other tools are you surrounded by as a student? Microsoft Word can be used for all sorts of projects, and not just those boring assignments. How about trying your hand at writing your date a poem, full of references to her favourite things or times you’ve spent together. E-mail it over or post it through her letterbox. It doesn’t have to be great, it just has to be from you!

Lastly, ask around. Think of all the people around you, all studying different subjects, with a wide range of talents and interests. They’re going to be experts in their fields one day, so why not see if they can offer you something at no cost now, before they get used to being paid?

Examples of things you can get help with include commissioning a painting for her, or even a simple sketch. Something personal and unique. (It could even be an illustration to accompany your poem!) Post a status on Facebook asking if anyone is willing to help you, maybe even offer to bake them some cookies as a thank you, and see what you can come up with!

Do you have any more ideas? We’d love to hear them! And even better, what was your date’s reaction to your gesture?  Comment below and fill us in!
